Forest linked with move for promising young Spireite

Sky Bet Championship club Nottingham Forest are believed to be tracking young Chesterfield defender Dylan Hand according to the Nottingham Post.

The 17-year-old centre-back joined the Derbyshire club’s academy system around 15 months ago and has starred for the club’s under-18s side.

With Hand tipped to enjoy a bright future in the game, a number of higher division clubs are said to be watching the player’s development closely. Hand’s growing list of admirers is thought to include English Premier League pair Burnley and Southampton and Sky Bet Championship club Nottingham Forest.

Should Chesterfield opt to cash in on the youngster, Forest could be the favourites to land the player with The Spireites currently being managed by former Reds striker and academy coach Jack Lester. The Chesterfield boss was a big part of Forest’s academy success in recent years and is well aware of the opportunities which many of The Reds’ youngsters have been given in the first team at The City Ground.

Chesterfield defender Hand is set to be out of contract in the summer and despite wanting to hold on to the player, The Spireites may need to consider a sale in January to ensure that they receive a significant sum for the youngster’s services.
