Burton Albion head coach Nigel Clough has told the Burton Mail that he wants to repeat the performances they put in against Norwich City and QPR.
The Brewers may have started their season badly but they have picked up their performances on the road in the last which has seen them rise up the Sky Bet Championship table to 21st place, just outside the relegation zone. So while they have had a miserable time at the Pirelli Stadium, losing their last two games at home 4-0, there is some belief they can get a result in their next match away at Bristol City.
And Clough has said he is looking for similar performances to the ones against Norwich City and QPR. In both games they earned a point in a hard fought 0-0 draw. He says if they can produce something similar while at Ashton Gate, they should return to Staffordshire with something.
He said: “It means that we are capable of it,”
“If we’d conceded goals on the road all throughout the season, if it’d been two’s and three’s and four’s (we’d be worried).”
“It gives us something to point to, something for the players to say, ‘listen, this is what we are looking for’.”
“And we’ve already looked at those games anyway and said, for as good as we were defensively, that wasn’t the problem in those games.”
“Now, we want to go and get a goal and win 1-0 in those sorts of away performances.”
“So that is what we are looking for – we are looking for a complete performance.”
“That is very difficult to get, but we are looking to be a threat, try to get a goal, but also be solid.”
“That is the balance that everybody is looking for.”
