On loan Arsenal full-back Carl Jenkinson is no closer to making his comeback from injury for Birmingham City according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 25-year-old Harlow born defender secured a season-long loan spell at St Andrews in August but the player managed just 32 minutes of action for Birmingham City before dislocating his shoulder on his debut against Reading in the Sky Bet Championship.

It had initially been reported that Jenkinson may be out of action for around eight weeks however Birmingham City have confirmed that the player is still some way away from a return to competitive action with the defender still in some discomfort.

Jenkinson is a product of the Charlton Athletic academy system but the player made just nine first team appearances for The Addicks while he was loaned out to both Welling United and Eastbourne Borough. It was with non-league Boro that the full-back came to Arsenal’s attention and Jenkinson soon signed for The Gunners in a deal believed to be worth around £1 million.

The defender has made 62 appearances for The Gunners and has scored one goal. Jenkinson has been out of favour at The Emirates Stadium during the past couple of years and has spent time on loan at West Ham United prior to his latest move to Birmingham City.
