QPR’s Alex Smithies has told Get West London that he can achieve many of his personal goals at the club rather than moving elsewhere.
Last year, QPR have a very mediocre year as they failed to challenge for promotion though one positive was that they never were in threat of getting relegated either. While it was a very dull year for the R’s, there was a shining light and that was Smithies who consistently impressed throughout the year with the standard of his performances.
This led to interest from other teams during the summer with some reports linking Smithies with a return to Huddersfield Town now that they are in the Premier League. He would end up staying at Loftus Road and with some fearing that he may just leave in the January transfer window, Smithies has looked to ease those worries by saying he can achieve many of his personal aims in West London.
He said: “I hope so.”
“It’s a very tight division and I think back-to-back wins soon pushes you up the league, especially in the early stages and I think if we can get that then we’ll soon move up towards the top end and there’s no reason why we can’t be in and around the play-offs.
“We went into the international break on the back of a few bad results, which is frustrating but it’s a long old season and it only takes a good month to move up the league and things look a little bit more rosy, and hopefully that’ll be the case for us.”
