Former Bristol City and Crawley man signs for sixth-tier Whitehawk

Former Bristol City and Crawley Town midfielder Marvin Eliott has signed on for National League South side Whitehawk FC, joining the Brighton-based side as a free agent.

The nine-cap Jamaican international, who was released by Crawley back at the start of July 2015, Whitehawk becoming Eliott’s fourth club after breaking through at Millwall, then enjoying stints at Bristol City and Crawley Town.

33-year-old Eliott (below) is set to fight for a place in the Hawks midfield as the sixth-tier side look to battle for their first win of the season.

The defensive midfielder will bring a plethora of experience to the Hawks courtesy of his time in the Football League, experience that tallies up to over 400 appearances – with 298 of these (24 goals/14 assists) coming in the Sky Bet Championship.

210 of those 298 Championship appearances came for Bristol City, who he turned out for between July 2007 and July 2014 – 210 appearances where he scored 21 goals and provided 14 assists for the Bristolians.

In addition to a wealth of experience in the Football League, Eliott also brings with him to the table experience of appearing in UEFA Cup football for first club Millwall during the 2004/05 competition. These two games, an aggregate 4-2 loss to Hungarian side Ferencvaros, came after Millwall reached the final of the 2003/04 FA Cup – losing 3-0 on the day to Manchester United.

The former Millwall, Bristol City and Crawley man didn’t make the Whitehawk squad for today’s game against rivals Wealdstone, a game that the Hawks lead 1-0 at half-time courtesy of a goal from Kyjuon Marsh-Brown – formerly of Brentford.
