Liverpool striker cools interest amid Leeds speculation

Liverpool striker Danny Ings has denied any possibility of a move to Leeds United in January after it was reported that the Yorkshire side were interested in the front man, according to The Times.

ESPN reported earlier in the week that Thomas Christiansen was interested in signing the former Burnley goalscorer, however the 25-year-old has revealed in an interview with The Times that he has no intentions of departing Anfield.

Ings has endured a troublesome time on Merseyside since signing in 2015 thanks to various injuries which have led him to falling down the pecking order. But, according to ESPN, Leeds are ready to submit an offer in order to boost their chances of gain promotion.

The Whites are currently fifth in the League, four points behind leaders Cardiff City, after eleven games, however the Yorkshire side have scored only the fourth highest amount of goals in the top ten.

In August Liverpool received loan offers from Newcastle United and Ings’ former employers Bournemouth, however the 25-year-old has stated that his intentions are to stay at Anfield.

“Everywhere I have been, I have always found a way to make it happen. I have found a way to make it happen. I have been in a lot of tough situations at previous clubs where it has been hard to break in.” he said.

“People from outside looking in will probably have the assumptions, ‘Oh, he’s the forgotten man,’ but it has not crossed my mind at all. I still believe in myself. I still believe I can play in this team.

“When you are at a club like Liverpool, it is not a club that you want to walk away from. It would grate on me for the rest of my career, and the rest of my life, if I had not done everything to give it my all. I still feel like I have a big part to play in this football club.”
