There are loads of players in the Championship who are hyped about and tipped as future stars or Premier League bound. We take a look at 5 players who are underrated and go about their business quietly-
The players who have picked out do not get as much of the spotlight as they deserve, in no particular order-
John Fleck, Sheffield United– The 26 year-old midfielder was a key player for the Blades when they won the League One title last season. Perhaps a surprise choice, Fleck has adapted well to Championship football and has played a big part in Sheffield United’s brilliant start to the season.
David McGoldrick, Ipswich- Mick McCarthy believes he is one of the best strikers in the Championship. He has scored 4 goals in 9 games for Ipswich so far. He has scored over 50 Championship goals in his career but has never been up there in the elite Championship goal scorers of the past.
Liam Moore, Reading- The former Leicester man was a key player for Jaap Stam’s side who reached the Play-Off final last season. He works well in the Reading system of passing around the back and is very comfortable on the ball.
Barry Bannan, Sheffield Wednesday- The Scotland international does not get the credit he deserves in my opinion. He has been one of the best midfielders in the Championship for the past 3 seasons and it is baffling that a smaller Premier League side have not approached him.
Tom Bradshaw, Barnsley– The Wales international leads the line at Oakwell and has scored 6 in 13 games in all competitions this season. He had a great goal scoring record with Shrewsbury and Walsall and is quietly starting to look prolific in the Championship too.
