Championship 11 Game Report: Grading every team in the Championship (12th-1st)

8th Ipswich: B

The majority of Ipswich fans would take this position after ten games. Two points off the play-offs and scoring 20 goals so far, Mick McCarthy has made The Tractor Boys one of the stand out teams in the Championship, so far. The signing of Martyn Waghorn looks like shrewd business, with the ex-Rangers man bagging six goals already. A play-off finish is in their sights, for now. Can they keep this form up?

7th Aston Villa: C

The pressure was on Steve Bruce, but four straight league wins sees Villa just outside the play-offs. Albert Adomah has been chipping in with the goals and at the other end of the pitch, Sam Johnstone has made 34 saves this season. That’s the most in the Championship and more than any keeper in the top European leagues.

6th Preston: B

Only one loss all season and a concrete defence which has only conceded six goals all season sees Preston in the top six. Alex Neil has taken PNE to the next level and has got the fans dreaming of a top six finish and maybe even promotion. Solid start.

5th Leeds: B

A fantastic start has just hit a roadblock as of late for Leeds. They were unbeaten until 16th September, but have now lost their last three away games. They are unbeaten at Elland Road and despite this stutter are only three points off second. Not falling apart.
