Championship 11 Game Report: Grading every team in the Championship (12th-1st)

The International break means Championship teams now have a two-week rest before their next game. This article will look at the performance of the teams in the Championship top half so far, giving each one of them a grade.

12th Sheffield Wednesday: D

After back-to-back play-off finishes, the same should be the minimum again for Carlos Carvalhal and the Owls. A decent start turned bad following a 4-2 defeat to fierce rivals Sheffield United at Hillsborough and a 1-0 defeat at Birmingham. However, a 3-0 win over Leeds has breathed a new lease of life at Wednesday and they’ll be hoping to kick on after the international break.

11th Middlesbrough: E

With the money Boro have spent they should be looking at finishing in the top two. Although they can still achieve this, their start to the season has been up and down. Boro have dropped points where they should be winning, especially at home. In their last two home games they’ve lost 1-0 to Norwich and drawn 2-2 with Brentford. If they can get some consistency, Boro could be up near the top come May.

10th Fulham: C

After finishing 6th last season, play-offs are the aim again this season for Fulham. They have recovered from a slow start to be three points off the play-offs. 5 of their 11 games have been draws, so if they can turn a few more points into three, they could achieve their aim this season.

9th Norwich: C

After an 8th place finish last season, new manager Daniel Farke will be looking to return the Canaries back to the Premier League. The appointment of a German manager and signing five German players suggest they are trying to replicate what Huddersfield did last season. They’ve had a decent start and have recorded impressive victories away from home against Boro and Sheffield United. The Canaries are on the rise.
