Blades defender could miss next two fixtures with injury

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder believes that full-back George Baldock could miss the club’s next two matches with a calf problem according to The Sheffield Star.

The 24-year-old Buckingham defender has made five appearances for The Blades in the Sky Bet Championship this season while he has also featured for the club in the Carabao Cup.

Baldock picked up a calf strain during Sheffield United’s 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest at The City Ground last weekend and the player is set to undergo an assessment of his injury.

According to United boss Wilder, the defender is now likely to miss his side’s next two outings in the Sky Bet Championship at home to both Ipswich Town (Saturday 14 October) and Reading (Saturday 21 October) with the player set to be available once again for the trip to Leeds United in three weeks’ time.

Baldock only joined Sheffield United in the summer with the player making the switch to Bramall Lane from Sky Bet League One club Milton Keynes Dons for an undisclosed fee. The defender left his boyhood club after making 125 appearances for The Dons, scoring two goals over eight years as a first team player at Stadium MK.

Competition for places at current club Sheffield United is extremely high this season with The Blades flourishing in the Sky Bet Championship and Baldock will be looking for a run in the starting XI once he returns from injury.
