Danny Ings

Leeds United plotting ambitious January move for Liverpool striker

Leeds United are targeting a move for Liverpool striker Danny Ings in January, according to ESPN.

The 25 year-old forward has had a tough time with Liverpool due to injuries and Leeds are said to be interested in bringing him to Elland Road. Ings has only played 6 times for Liverpool since joining them in 2015.

Ings started his career with Bournemouth in 2011 and played 27 times for the Cherries in 2 seasons. He then moved to Burnley in 2011, along with manager Eddie Howe. His best season for the Clarets was the 2013/14 where he won the Championship Player of the Year award as his 22 goals helped Burnley gain promotion to the Premier League.

Liverpool were impressed by Ings’s prolific form which carried on into the Premier League with Burnley and swooped for the striker. He has since made an England cap too, but most of his international career has been with the England U21s, who he has played for 13 times. His career has been halted in the last 2 seasons due to injuries and Liverpool might be willing to let him go, potentially only on loan, so he can gain some more game time and get back to full fitness.

Signing Danny Ings in January would be a huge statement of intent by Leeds United. They have made a promising start to life under new boss Thomas Christiansen and lie 4th in the Championship table. Leeds fans would be hoping that Ings would form a partnership with fellow striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga and score the goals to fire them to promotion.
