Liverpool showing keen interest in Sheffield United star

Premier League giants Liverpool are showing a keen interest in Sheffield United youngster David Brooks, according to the Sun.

The Championship side are said to be wanting to offer Brooks a new contract at Bramhall Lane to keep him with the club. Liverpool along with Merseyside rivals Everton are interested.

The 20 year-old has recently been called up to the Wales national team. He has made a stunning start to the season for Sheffield United in the Championship. He was a standout player for the Blades when they beat rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the Steel City derby.

Brooks was the Player of the Tournament for England in the Toulon tournament. The midfielder, who was formerly part of the Manchester City academy, has switched his allegiance from English to Welsh. He was set to join League Two side Chesterfield on loan in the summer but Sheffield United boss, Chris Wilder, pulled the plug on the deal. This showed his intention to play Brooks this season.

With the way Brooks has started the season for the Blades it is no wonder why sides like Liverpool are interested in him. However, he is one of the brightest young talents in the Football League and it would be a shame to see him go to the Premier League and never play for Liverpool. It is important that youngsters like Brooks are playing every week to further their development.

There is no doubt that Brooks is a very promising talent but it would be refreshing to see if Sheffield United do tie him down on a new deal and he stays with them for the time being before he moves onto a Premier League giant.
