Aston Villa midfielder not for sale insists Bruce

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has insisted that in-form midfielder Conor Hourihane will not be sold in the upcoming transfer window unless the club receive a phenomenal transfer offer for his services according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international midfielder has performed well for Villa this season as the club have slowly risen towards the top six in the Sky Bet Championship.

Rumours have surfaced in recent weeks that English Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion are weighing up a move for the player however Villa boss Bruce has rubbished the speculation whilst insisting that Hourihane is not for sale.

Hourihane joined Villa from Sky Bet Championship rivals Barnsley during the January transfer window and the player made 17 appearances for his new club in the second half of last season while he netted one goal. The midfielder has already made 11 appearances for Villa this term and has weighed in with five goals including a hat-trick against Norwich City in a 4-2 home victory in August.

The midfielder clearly has a key role to play for Villa this season and with the club desperate for a return to the English Premier League after a two-year absence, every player has a role to play between now and the end of the season.
