Sky Bet Championship strugglers Birmingham City have appointed Steve Cotterill as their new manager on a two-and-a-half year deal.
The 53-year-old moves into the St Andrews hotseat after former boss Harry Redknapp was sacked by the Blues almost two weeks ago.
Cotterill has been out of work since being sacked by former club Bristol City in January 2016 following a poor run of results. The former striker’s overall spell at Ashton Gate was a positive one after winning a Sky Bet League One and Football League Trophy double with The Robins in 2014/2015.
After hearing news of Cotterill’s appointment at Birmingham City, fans took to Twitter to give their views on the news.
Delighted with appointment of Steve Cotterill at #BCFC – even better that Carsley stays on as assistant. Let's get this season started now

I'd love Steve Cotterill to prove all the fans wrong who are already judging him and moaning.
He should start with a clean slate #BCFC ⚽️💙— amy shakespeare (@shakespeare1993) September 29, 2017

Not happy about Steve Cotteril appointment. Success as our no2 doesn't = success as manager. That being said I'll give him a chance. #BCFC

Must admit I’m not excited with #BCFC new Manager. It’s like seeing Gleeson in the 1st team. Another Rowett 😴in the making. Hope I’m wrong

Caretaker manager Lee Carsley will remain in charge for Saturday’s trip to Hull City with Cotterill taking over after the international break.
