Former Leeds United and QPR midfielder linked with Gills job

Former Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers midfielder Sean Derry is being linked with the managerial vacancy at Sky Bet League One club Gillingham according to the latest odds from English Football League sponsors Sky Bet.

The 39-year-old is currently the manager of Sky Bet League Two outfit Cambridge United who are building a Play-Off push with the club presently occupying 10th position in the league table.

Derry has won an impressive 42.4% of his matches in charge at The Abbey Stadium and the former tough tackling midfielder has been listed as the favourite for the managerial vacancy at Sky Bet League One club Gillingham according to the latest odds which have been published by English Football League sponsors Sky Bet.

The Gills have won just one of their 10 league matches so far this season and are already embroiled in a relegation battle. The Kent club are currently searching for a new manager after former boss Ady Pennock left the club by mutual consent earlier this week.

As well as managing Cambridge United, potential Gills target Derry was also the manager of Notts County but won just 26 of his 77 matches at the helm at Meadow Lane.

Derry enjoyed a successful playing career which saw him represent several clubs including Notts County, Sheffield United, Portsmouth, Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers.
