Blackburn Rovers may be watching Villa midfielder

Sky Bet League One club Blackburn Rovers could be one of several clubs considering making a loan move for Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Lyden according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 21-year-old Australian born midfield linchpin is likely to be made available for loan by Villa in January after struggling for game time in the first team at Villa Park.

Lyden has made just two appearances for his club so far this season and the player is thought to be ready to go out on loan to gain some first team playing experience.

A move to a Sky Bet League One club is most likely and it has been reported that scouts from Blackburn Rovers could have been present at Villa Park watching Lyden bag the winning goal in his club’s under-23s’ 1-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League 2 on Monday evening.

Scouts from Northampton Town and Shrewsbury Town were also thought to be at the match as well as several other interested spectators.

Villa were second best for large parts of the fixture but under-23s captain Lyden pounced seven minutes from time to poke the ball beyond visiting keeper Robert Sanchez from close range to grab his side an unlikely three points.

The player’s performance will have helped his hopes of a loan move and with Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray operating on a tight budget, Lyden could be an option for the Lancashire club in January.
