Nottingham Forest must believe in themselves to get the win

Nottingham Forest head coach Mark Warburton has told the Nottingham Post that they must believe in their style of play in order to get more wins.

At the weekend, Forest suffered a huge disappointment after a poor display led them losing 2-1 to Aston Villa. With the West Midlands side having a crisis of their own recently with some fans even wanting their head coach Steve Bruce sacked after a slow start to the season, it was a huge blow to Forest that they weren’t able to pile on more misery for them.

This lost led to Forest to slip down to 12th in the Sky Bet Championship table and while this position is far better than the one they found themselves in last year, Warburton still believes they can do better. He believes that his players need to completely buy in to the style of play he enforces or else you will see the sort of performance that got put in on Saturday.

He said: “You have to believe. We spoke to the players and we said that it is all about belief. It is about belief in your own ability, it is about belief in your colleagues and belief in the togetherness we have here,”

“You have to believe in the way we go about the game.”

“You are asking players to be brave; you are asking them to be strong and take the ball in tight areas. It does take a certain type of player to do that.”

“But they have shown they can do it – they have shown they are more than good enough to do it.”

“It is having that belief and confidence to do it time and again. We are getting there but it is also still a work in progress.”
