Former Liverpool star could sign for high flying Blackpool

Former Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing could sign a deal with Sky Bet League One high flyers Blackpool with the player currently training with the club as confirmed by The Bolton News.

The 28-year-old Wallasey born midfield ace left Bolton Wanderers at the end of last season after helping the club to promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship however the player is yet to find a new club.

Wanderers have confirmed that they will not look to resign the midfielder in the near future after contract talks broke down in the summer.

Spearing is currently training with Sky Bet League One club Blackpool in a bid to maintain his match fitness and with the player having failed to find a new employer, The Tangerines could offer the midfielder a deal at Bloomfield Road at least for the short term.

The player started his career with English Premier League giants Liverpool where he won the League Cup in 2011/2012 and made 55 appearances in all competitions. Spearing joined Bolton Wanderers in August 2012 on a loan deal which was later made permanent and the midfielder was named The Trotters’ Player of the Year in 2013.

Spearing was offered the opportunity to remain at The Macron Stadium in the summer but the player opted to move on after failing to agree a new deal with Wanderers and could yet become a Blackpool player.
