Arsenal and Manchester United target promising Fulham midfielder

Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United are keeping tabs on Fulham youngster Matt O’Riley, according to the Mirror.

Still only 16 years-old, Matt O’Riley is a player who is exciting many Fulham fans. O’Riley has caught the eye of Arsenal and Manchester United after breaking into the Fulham first-team this season having starred for their youth teams previously.

He is the latest young talent to be promoted from Fulham’s academy after left-back Ryan Sessegnon, who is still only 17 but broke into the first-team last season, and has had many Premier League clubs battling for his signature.

O’Riley joined Fulham at Under-9 level and has progressed through the ranks for the Championship side. Last season he played for the Under-18s before becoming the club’s youngster goalscorer at Under-23s level. He made his debut this season in the Carabao Cup, playing in Fulham’s 2-0 win away at Wycombe Wanderers. He has also played in the Checkatrade trophy for Fulham this season.

O’Riley’s breakthrough into the Fulham ranks has rewarded him with some international recognition at youth level after a call up to the England squad for their September friendlies against South Africa and Brazil for the U17 side.

Fulham fans will be hoping that Slavisa Jokanovic can hold onto Matt O’Riley despite interest from Premier League sides. It is an exciting time for the Fulham academy and who knows, maybe in a few years down the line the likes of O’Riley and Ryan Sessegnon will be playing for the England national side.
