Grecians could profit further from former youngster’s Chelsea debut

Sky Bet League Two club Exeter City could pocket a higher tribunal fee from the sale of youngster Ethan Ampadu after the player made his first team debut for new club Chelsea on Wednesday evening according to Devon Live.

The 17-year-old Exeter born defensive midfielder joined The Blues in the summer in a deal which is expected to be worth a significant sum to Exeter City.

The transfer fee which Chelsea must pay for The Grecians’ academy graduate will be determined by a tribunal and the fact that the player has already made his first team debut at Stamford Bridge could result in a higher valuation of his talents.

Ampadu replaced Spanish midfield ace Cesc Fabregas in the 56th minute of Chelsea’s 5-1 demolition of Sky Bet Championship club Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup Third Round at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.

The player was handed an opportunity to impress in the first team after a string of promising performances for the club’s Development Squad which resulted in Ampadu being nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for August.

After graduating from Exeter City’s academy system, Ampadu made 13 first team appearances for The Grecians prior to his departure in the summer.
