Leeds United manager eager for more Premier League action after Carabao Cup taster

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen has told the Telegraph and Argus that he is eager to pit his mind against more Premier League managers after their dramatic Carabao Cup win over Burnley.

This week Leeds continued their great start to the season by claiming a penalties win over Premier League side Burnley in the Third Round of the Carabao Cup, an especially good win for a team that lost two of their star players to the club earlier in the summer.

For Christiansen though it was the fact they were facing a Premier League side which excited him and after having a taste of it, he is eager for more. But while he will get another chance to beat a top tier side when they face Leicester City in the Fourth Round of the competition, what Christiansen means is that he is desperate for Leeds to get promoted so he can regularly pit his mind against the managers of that division.

He said: “Before I came here I knew about Leeds, I’ve followed English football since I was a kid and I knew Leeds were a big team,”

“They are a team who should be in the Premier League. This is what we are going to work on, day by day, one game at a time. We’ll do our best to achieve that this season.”

“This was a tough game, 120 minutes of high intensity, and a very good opponent from the Premier League who have been doing well. But we came here with the intention to win and to pass to the next round.”
