Sean Dyche disappointed to hear Chris Wood and Charlie Taylor “get slaughtered” by Leeds fans

Burnley manager Sean Dyche was disappointed to hear former Leeds players Chris Wood and Charlie Taylor “get slaughtered” by their former fans during Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie between Burnley and Leeds United, as per a report by talkSPORT.

Championship side Leeds United knocked Premier League side Burnley out of the Carabao Cup in the Third Round on penalties at Turf Moor. Leeds took the lead on 80 minutes after Hadi Sacko scored, only for Burnley to equalise 9 minutes later through a penalty from Chris Wood. Leeds then thought they’d snatched it through an injury-time penalty by Pablo Hernandez. However, a sublime free-kick from Robbie Brady took the game into extra-time.

Leeds eventually won the game on penalties. They took advantage of a miss by Burnley defender James Tarkowski to book their place in the Fourth Round. Stuart Dallas scored the winning penalty. The spot-kicks were taken in front of the Burnley fans on police advice.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche said after the game that he was disappointed to see former Leeds defender Charlie Taylor and striker Chris Wood “get slaughtered” by their former fans. He also added “”Those two have been fantastic servants to Leeds, if I’m honest. But Woody has done fantastically, walking on to our pitch and scoring, and again in the shootout.”.

Leeds lie top of the Championship and have made a great start to life under new boss Thomas Christiansen. Now their fans will be hoping they can have a good run in the League Cup this season.
