Winger’s return hands struggling Bolton Wanderers a boost

Struggling Sky Bet Championship club Bolton Wanderers are set to receive a boost with news that injured winger Sammy Ameobi is poised to return to full training this week according to The Bolton News.

The 25-year-old Newcastle-upon-Tyne born wideman is yet to feature for The Trotters this season after picking up a knee injury during the club’s pre-season programme.

Ameobi is thought to have been building up his fitness levels with light training over the past few days and it has now been revealed that the wideman is expected to return to full training this week.

The winger played a key role for Wanderers in the first half of last season during a spell on loan at The Macron Stadium from then Sky Bet Championship club Newcastle United. Amoebi made 24 appearances in all competitions for The Trotters and scored four goals before returning to St James’ Park in January.

Ameobi signed a one-year deal with Bolton Wanderers in the summer but has been frustrated by injury as he has looked to get his career back on track following a period out of favour at former club Newcastle United.

Should the player come through his training schedule unscathed, it is believed that Ameobi could be available for selection for next weekend’s home fixture against Brentford.
