Players who have surprised everyone in the Championship so far

With just 7 games gone so far in the Championship, it is already shaping out to be another fascinating season. Leeds United top the tree, whilst surprise packages like Cardiff City and Sheffield United lie just beneath. There have been a lot of players who have surprised many with their performances so far, we take a look at a few-

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Cardiff City- The 25 year-old has been in fine form for Cardiff who lie in second, having won 6 out of their 7 games this season. Mendez-Laing has scored 4 in 7 matches. His move from Rochdale in the summer for a free transfer raised a few eyebrows amongst Cardiff fans.

Bobby Reid, Bristol City- The midfielder has been in stunning form so far for the Robins, scoring 5 goals and is joint top scorer in the Championship. The 24 year-old is now the first name on the team sheet for Bristol City boss Lee Johnson.

Jarrod Bowen, Hull City- The 20 year-old had only played for Hull on three occasions before this season. He has burst onto the scene this season, scoring 5 goals in 7 matches. He won the young player of the month for August.

Ezgjan Alionski, Leeds United- The Whites are top of the Championship and part of this is due to the form of Alionski. Somewhat of an unknown quantity when he signed for Leeds from Swiss side Lugano, his flair and quick feet have made him a popular player at Elland Road.

Dael Fry, Middlesbrough- The 20 year-old centre-back is playing for his home-town club and impressing this season. Boro are many pundit’s favourites for promotion and youngster Fry has formed an impressive partnership with Ben Gibson at the back.
