Sheffield Wednesday fans were delighted as they were able to get a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest.

There was plenty of pressure on the Owls after getting off to a slow start. With some fans already turning on head coach Carlos Carvalhal, they really needed a win following their return from the international break to stop a mutiny. And there would be extra eyes watching their match against Nottingham Forest as it would be televised on Sky Sports, meaning they really needed to pull out a good performance.

And luckily for Carvalhal and co, they did as they ran out 3-1 winners over Forest. Wednesday got off to a great start and they were soon rewarded when Barry Bannan fed Gary Hooper who fired home for the opener. But the Owls weren’t able to hold onto that lead as Ben Osborn was able to worm his way through their defence and hit home the equaliser.

In the second half though, Wednesday would take control and make sure they got the win. Steven Fletcher would head in from a Kieran Lee corner to put them back in the lead and then creator would turn scorer as Lee was able to make the most of a failed clearance to score. Considering this was his first game starting following an injury, it was a great way to announce he was back.

And this was what Wednesday fans were waiting for after a poor August as they heaped praise on their side. Plenty of it was reserved for debutant Joost Van Aken who had a brilliant display to kick off his career with the side.
