Leeds United new boy could miss this weekends game

According to a tweet from the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay, Leeds United new boy Pierre-Michel Lasogga could miss the chance to make his debut this weekend against Burton Albion as his partner is due to give birth at some point during this weekend.

The 25-year-old German, who signed for Leeds on loan on deadline day, started out his career at the youth set up at Schalke, before moving to Rot-Weiss Essen, SG Wattenscheid, Wolfsburg, and Bayer Leverkusen, all during his youth career, before eventually making the step up to senior football with Leverkusen in 2010, where he featured for the second team.

He then moved to Herta Berlin’s second team, where he scored three in six appearances and subsequently made the step up to the first team there, where he enjoyed a successful four-year spell, netting 22 in 64 appearances and earned himself a call up to the German under 21 side during his time there, where he scored four in 11.

Lasogga then had a loan spell at current side Hamburg for a year, scoring 13 in 20 appearances, before signing permanently in 2014, where he made a further 96 appearances, scoring 26 goals.

Lasogga has failed to find his form over recent seasons, however, and only managed to score two in 22 appearances in all competitions last season, and he will be looking to rebuild his career during his loan spell at Elland Road.

However, Leeds fans may have to wait to see their new striker in action, as Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay has tweeted that the Germans partner is pregnant, and is expected to give birth at some point this weekend, which could rule him out of Saturday’s game against Burton Albion.
