MK Dons sign Bristol City defender on loan until January

MK Dons have signed Scott Golbourne on loan from Bristol City until January as confirmed by the club website.

The 29-year-old defender was expecting to make a triumphant return to Ashton Gate when he signed for Bristol City in January 2016 from Wolves. While he started off as a regular for the Robins, he soon fell out of the first team and hadn’t played for the club since February. This meant that he needed to find a new club, permanently or on loan, to give himself the best chance of playing regular first team football.

And with less than hour left in the transfer window, he has found a new temporary home after signing a loan deal with MK Dons that will keep him at the club until mid-January. They have got off to a slow start this season as the look to get in the Sky Bet League One play-offs but the addition of Golbourne may just be the thing that gets their season going.

After completing his move to MK Dons, Golbourne said: “I’m really impressed with everything and everyone at the Club,”

“It’s a club going places and I’m excited to get started.”

His new head coach Robbie Neilson added: “I’m delighted to get him,”

“He’ll be a huge addition to the squad. He brings great experience and has played in both League One and the Championship.

“He’s athletic, strong and will bring leadership to the team, so I’m really pleased. It’s a great one for us.”

Golbourne could make his debut in Saturday’s match against Oxford United.
