Walsall have made their second signing of Deadline Day after bringing in Zeli Ismail on loan from Bury for six months as confirmed by the club website.
The Saddlers, like many teams today, have been looking to strengthen their club as much as possible before the transfer window closes at 11pm tonight. They have already been able to get one signing in after completing a deal to sign Dan Agyei on loan from Burnley and now they can be very happy as they have been able to get another player into the club on loan.
This time, they have been able to snap up Ismail who has now moved on loan from their Sky Bet League One rivals Bury to Walsall. He did well for the Shakers after signing for them, scoring four goals in 23 places, but he has fallen down the pecking order due to the signings they have made this summer and needs this loan deal to make sure he continues to play football regularly.
Following the signing of Ismail, Walsall head coach Jon Whitney said: “Zeli is one that has always had great potential,”
“He has raw pace. He came on again us for Bury and created their second penalty, which Mark Gillespie saved. He’s an exciting player – he can play out wide and he’s a natural winger.”
“He’s local too and Ian Sharps knows him well from his Burton days. Both Zeli and Dan are really keen and want to be part of the environment we’ve developed at the club.”
“They will come in and reinforce the squad and give us depth.”
