EFL Reporter for The Sun, Tom Barclay, understands that there is a ‘good chance’ that Fleetwood Town striker Devante Cole will complete a deadline day move to Sky Bet Championship side Sheffield United. It is believed Blades boss Chris Wilder wants another striker to conclude his business before the 11pm deadline.
The 22-year-old has impressed during his time at the Cod Army, and has started the new campaign in flying form. In five matches, he has netted four goals, including a brace for Cole in the 2-0 home win over AFC Wimbledon in Sky Bet League One.
Yesterday, it was revealed by the Blackpool Gazette that Fleetwood had received an offer from a Championship club for Cole, clearly this came from the powers that be at Bramall Lane. He made the move to Highbury Stadium from Bradford City last January and hasn’t looked back ever since. So much so, he may now make the jump up into the English second tier. He still has a year left on his existing deal, as well as the option to extend it by a further year.
Uwe Rosler also confirmed that a foreign club had expressed interest in the in-form forward as well. However it looks as though Sheffield United will be his next club, where he’ll battle with the likes of Billy Sharp, Leon Clarke, Ched Evans and Caolan Lavery for a place in the starting eleven. At the time of writing, there is just over an hour of the official window left, so both clubs face a race against the clock to get this one across the line. The Daily Mail understands Fleetwood have targeted a player from Hull to act as Cole’s replacement too.
