Nottingham Forest secure international goalkeeper loan deal

Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest have today unveiled the deadline day signing of AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Adam Federici. The Australian international is currently away with his national team, but has put pen to paper on a deal lasting until January.

Since making the move to the Cherries in 2015, Federici has only made 17 appearances for the club, but only eight of those have been in the league. He’ll make the move to the City Ground, where he is now expected to become Mark Warburton’s first choice, dislodging youngster Jordan Smith.

The player will therefore be in line to make his Forest debut following the international break, which will be a clash at Bramall Lane versus Sheffield United.

The 32-year-old last played a competitive match all the way back in January in Bournemouth FA Cup defeat away to Millwall, who defeating Nottingham Forest earlier this season. He also has 16 Australian caps to his name, and is currently in the squad competing with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Mathew Ryan and Genk’s Danny Vukovic for the number one jersey in the eyes of national team coach Ange Postecoglou.

Federici made his name during his time at Reading, where he came through the ranks to make well over 200 appearances in the first team. He would help the club win promotion out of the Championship back in the 2011/12 campaign. Although the minutes have dried up in recent years, he’ll be eager to prove a point to everyone that he still has what it takes, and to reward Warburton for showing faith in him.
