Wycombe Wanderers have signed Dan Scarr on loan from Birmingham City until January as confirmed by the club website.
The 22-year-old defender hit the headlines when he scored for non-league Stourbridge against Wycombe back in January and he was soon noted as one of the players who could make the jump up to the EFL. He was then snapped up by Birmingham City, a move he described as a dream for him, but he was unable to get a run for the U23s like he wanted because of a hip injury he picked up.
However he has now recovered from that knock and as he is looking to get back to playing first team football, he is now heading out on loan to Wycombe until January 1st. While he does not have much experience in the EFL, he has plenty of talent and he will be hoping to impress the coaches back at Birmingham while playing at Adams Park.
Following the completion of the move, Wycombe head coach Gareth Ainsworth said: “Dan came to our attention when we were preparing for the game against Stourbridge and I thought he was outstanding against us in that match.”
“We were one of a number of clubs keeping an eye on him but he deserved his move to Birmingham and he will have learned a lot from being in a Championship environment in the past six months.”
“Now we’re pleased to bring him in on loan and are looking forward to giving him the chance to compete for a place in our backline. We’ve been conceding too many goals and we believe Dan will strengthen our options, and also provide a threat from set pieces at the other end.”
“He’s a big lad with a lot of ability and a fantastic appetite to succeed as a professional footballer, and that kind of character will see him fit perfectly into our squad.”
