Young Brentford centre-back Manny Onaraise has joined Sky Bet League One club Rotherham United for an undisclosed fee according to The Bees’ official website.

The 20-year-old London born defender has been on trial at the South Yorkshire club and has impressed Millers boss Paul Warne enough to be awarded a permanent deal at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The length of Onaraise’s contract at new club Rotherham United has not been disclosed however it is understood that manager Warne has challenged the youngster to battle for a first team starting place for the long term.

The defender started his career with English Premier League club West Ham United but failed to make a senior appearance for The Hammers and opted to join Brentford in January 2016. Onaraise has continued to develop with The Bees however the player has been frustrated by the lack of first team opportunities at Griffin Park and leaves the club without an appearance to his name.

Onaraise made his senior debut last season during a loan spell with Sky Bet League Two outfit Cheltenham Town. The youngster went on to make 26 appearances for The Robins in the second half of the season, scoring one goal.

After a difficult start to his career, Onaraise will be looking to really launch his senior career in South Yorkshire.
