Sunderland line up move for West Brom winger

Sunderland are lining up a move to sign West Bromwich Albion’s Callum McManaman according to a report from HITC Sport.

There was a lot of hope when the Baggies first signed McManaman back in 2015 but it was turned out to be a flop signing. He has struggled to break into the West Brom first team and even though he has been at the Hawthorns for two and a half years, he has only made 25 appearances. In an attempt to get some time on the pitch, he spent the second half of last season on loan with Sheffield Wednesday but he also struggled to break into the first team there and didn’t make much of an impact as they lost out in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs.

And with West Brom being extra keen to make sure that McManaman finds a new club with him only having one year left on his current deal, one Championship team looks set to step up and make an attempt to sign him. Sunderland are still looking to improve their squad in the last few hours of the transfer window and have now turned their eyes on the winger even though he has struggled in recent years.

The Black Cats do like McManaman as a player and feel that getting out of West Brom will give him the chance to realise the potential he had when he first emerged on the scene for Wigan Athletic. Back then he became a star player for the side as he was a key player in their amazing FA Cup success back in 2013.
