As reported by reliable journalist Pete O’Rourke, Reading have approached Derby to try and bring in Ikechi Anya on loan. The Scottish international has been deemed surplus to requirements at Derby.

Anya started his career with Wycombe Wanderers in 2004. After eighteen games for The Chairboys, he dropped down to non-league football. He played for Oxford City and Halesowen Town, before signing for Northampton Town. Anya scored three goals for The Cobblers, but he was on the move again this time he signed for Spanish side Sevilla Atlético.

However, after only a season with the club, he signed for Celta but was placed straight into the B team. He played 35 times for the B team, and once for the senior side. He signed for Granada in 2011 but found it hard to break into the first-team so he went out on loan to Watford. Anya impressed during his loan spell, and he permanently signed for The Hornets in 2013. He played over 100 times for Watford, before signing for Championship side Derby where he played 26 Championship games last season. Anya has represented Scotland on 27 occasions.

Reading currently sit one spot above Derby in eleventh. The Royals have been linked with striker Oliveria for some time now. If Oliveira and Anya both signed Reading would look very strong. With rumours flying about it’s bound to be a busy few hours for Reading.
