According to Sky Sports Transfer Centre’s live feed, Crystal Palace midfielder Jonny Williams is set to undergo a medical at Sunderland ahead of a prospective season-long loan move to the Championship side.

The 23-year-old has made 55 appearances for Crystal Palace since 2011 and has been out on loan on four occasions at Ipswich Town, Nottingham Forest and Milton Keynes Dons.

The young midfielder has earned 17 international caps for Wales since 2013 and will be wanting to play regular football this season in the Championship before trying to break back into Palace’s side.

The young midfielder offers plenty of talent and promise and should he move to the Stadium of Light to join up with Simon Grayson, he will have the opportunity to work under a manager who is renowned for getting the best out of players as well as being an excellent man-manager.

Williams will be hoping to play regular football during this year with next years World Cup in Russia approaching and if he can produce some eye catching performances in the Championship for the Black Cats – should he sign for Sunderland, Chris Coleman may consider him as part of his plans for the tournament should Wales qualify with the Euro 2016 semi-finalists currently being four points adrift of automatic qualification for the tournament.

With Deadline Day coming to a close in around six hours, Sunderland will be rushing to ensure a deal is done for Jonny Williams and then it is thought that they may switch their attention to a striker or to bringing in a centre-half.
