Wolves and Reading have been two sides mentioned as having an interest in Norwich striker Nelson Oliveira, but The Sun report that they are to miss out to Premier League competition.
According to The Sun, both the Sky bet Championship sides are to miss out to Premier League Swansea City as the South Wales club look to replace the impending departure of their own striker Fernando Llorente.
The Sun say that it is a Spanish for Portuguese swap as £15 million striker Llorente heads to London and Spurs whilst the Swans look to splash cash to the tune of £12 million for Oliveira to head across the breath of the UK from Norfolk to Wales.
Before signing for Norwich from Benfica at the end of August last year for £5.3 million, Oliveira actually had a loan spell at the Liberty Stadium between January and June 2015, the Portuguese striker featuring in 11 games for the Swans, in which he scored just the one goal and provided just the single assist.
However, Oliveira has moved on from that and become something of a more reliable goalscorer during his time at Norwich. Last season for the Canaries, Oliveira scored 11 goals in 28 Championship appearances. Already this season he has featured in all Norwich’s league games so far, scoring three times in five appearances – the goals coming at the rate of one per 80 minutes on the field.
With the lure of the Premier League exerting such a strong pull, it appears that Championship sides Reading and Wolves will have to look elsewhere on this final day in order to bolster their options ahead of the next window that opens at the turn of the new year.
