Fulham closing in on French winger

Fulham are set to sign free agent winger Yohan Mollo, after the winger was released from the Zenit St. Petersburg squad earlier this week, according to French sports page L’Equipe.

French winger and free agent Yohan Mollo is close to completing a deadline day move to Craven Cottage, after his contract with Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg was terminated yesterday afternoon. It comes as the Cottagers reportedly try to negotiate a deal surrounding Dwight Gayle.

It is reported that Fulham have beaten Nantes in Mollo’s native France to the signature of the former France under-21 international, who was a product of the Monaco youth system, and has also made appearances for Granada in Spain.

Yohan Mollo had a public spat with the supporters of Zenit, which resulted in the management taking action and dropping him to the Zenit II team, and then later mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with the Russian club, leaving him as he is now – a free agent.

There is believed to be no rush in trying to get the deal across the line, as Mollo’s ‘free agent’ status means the deal to bring him to West London can occur outside the transfer window, meaning Fulham literally have all the time in the world to get the move completed.

L’Equipe report that Mollo will arrive in London for his medical this afternoon, and that the contract he will sign has a length of 1 year, with an option for Fulham to extend that by a further year until the summer of 2019. We could see Mollo in a Fulham shirt in the coming days.
