Cardiff City preparing move for Joe Ledley

Championship side Cardiff City are poised to make a move for free agent Joe Ledley before tonight’s deadline according to Wales Online.

WalesOnline has reported that Neil Warnock is chasing 2 new midfielders before the 11pm deadline. One of them appears to be Wales international Joe Ledley. The other name is reportedly being kept quiet by the Bluebirds as they are taking their business in a sensible manner.

A move would make sense for the midfielder as he can move back to home and still play at a good club under great management, following his release from Premier League side Crystal Palace. It could arguably be seen as a sensational return to the club. He first established himself as a teenager in Cardiff, making his debut in 2004 and going on to play 229 matches in a six-year period.

Cardiff City currently sit at the top of the Sky Bet Championship table 5 games into the season, having kept a 100% record so far. However, Cardiff must still look to improve to maintain their good start and to keep a gap between them and the teams below, despite it being so early into the season.

WalesOnline reported that ‘Warnock is happy with his side who have roared to the top of the Championship, but feels an experienced, bossy midfielder could bring an extra dimension and provide competition for Aron Gunnarsson and Joe Ralls.’

Ledley, despite not being signed up by a club, has been called up by Wales for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Neil Warnock does not need to rush because free agents can be signed after the deadline, but may want to move quickly in case other clubs step up interest.
