Premier League side Swansea City are preparing to make an offer to sign Nelson Oliveira from Norwich City on Deadline Day according to respected journalist Peter O’Rourke.
Oliveira has been a regular target for Championship sides this summer with Jaap Stam’s Reading proving interested all sumer, however Premier League side Swansea City have now emerged as a potential destination.
The striker is currently away with Portugal for their World Cup Qualifier against the Faroes tonight, however that has not stopped rumours circulating that suggest he could depart Carrow Road for the Premier League.
Oliveira has experience with Swansea City having completed a loan spell in 2015, however the striker only found the net once in eleven appearances.
26-year-old Oliveira began his career at Braga Juvenis before signing for Portuguese giants Benfica. The striker made 24 appearances for the Portuguese side, finding the net three times, but spent the majority of his time out on-loan; featuring for Rio Ave, Pacos Ferreira, Dep La Coruna, French side Stade Rennaisn and more recently Swansea Cty in 2015 before signing for Nottingham Forest on a temporary basis.
Oliveira has proved to have an inconsistent goalscoring record following his multiple spells away from Benfica before signing for Norwich in 2016, however goals have begun to come at a more regular basis since moving to Carrow Road. In Oliveira’s 35 appearances for the Canaries he has netted fifteen times, with the striker beginning to prove that he can be prolific at Sky Bet Championship level.
Current odds for Oliveira’s departure – from Sky Bet – suggest that he may well be on his way to Swansea (2/1), however Reading (3/1), Wolves (9/1), Hull City (20/1) and Leeds United (25/1) are other potential destinations.
