Leeds United, Birmingham City and West Brom target given £5m price tag

According to the Daily Mail’s live transfer feed, Bristol City have slapped a £5 million price tag on their 6ft 5in defender Aden Flint for Deadline Day.

It is thought Leeds United and Birmingham City have contacted Bristol City over the availability of the defender according to the Daily Star before the window closes.

Flint has made 170 appearances for Bristol City since signing for the Robins in 2013 and has managed to score 28 goals for the club from centre-back which is a rather impressive feat.

The defender began his career with Alfreton Town in 2008 and spent a brief loan spell with Matlock Town during his time at Alfreton. In a 3 year spell with Alfreton Town, Flint made over 100 appearances for the club and scored 45 goals which is a very impressive figure for a centre-back.

Flint signed for Swindon Town in 2010 and after a quick return to Alfreton to help them gain promotion into the Conference, he returned to Swindon Town, nailed a regular place at centre-back and went on to lead Swindon Town to their League Two title in the 2011/12 season.

Swindon went on to have more success in League One thanks to Flint’s consistent performances which helped to lead the club into the 2012/13 play-offs but they couldn’t quite manage promotion during their time with the central defender in the third tier of English football.

Bristol City then moved to sign the talented defender in 2013 for a fee of around £300,000 and Flint has enjoyed a successful time at Ashton Gate to date, winning League One with the club in the 2014/15 season and himself reaching a personal milestone, scoring a hat-trick in an 8-2 win against Walsall and more impressively, a 14 goal tally in League One that season, from central defence.

It is thought Birmingham City, Leeds United, Norwich City, West Brom, Middlesbrough, and Fulham are all interested in signing the central defender but the large price tag of £5m could be enough to warn clubs away from trying to sign him this deadline day.
