Leeds United capture rumoured striker target – £1.95m fee

It has long been rumoured, has gone through many hoops and around many corners, but now it appears that Leeds United have their man in Pawel Cibicki according to Swedish site Aftonbladet and their Sportbladet section.

Earlier this evening, pictures supposedly of Cibicki engaged in the ‘staged for media’ pose started appearing on Twitter (tweets – below) purporting to show a completed deal for the Swedish striker with Polish heritage.

Sportbladet report that “disclosure is confirmed” and go on to say that an original bid of SEK15 million was upped by Leeds United to SEK20 million (£1.95 million) and that “the deal has been locked.” They go on to say that a contract was signed today and that it is for “four years” and that Cibicki “immediately leaves his mother club (Malmö).”

One thing fans will be hoping for is that Cibicki will add to the attacking threat that Leeds United currently posses and will be glad to know that There are goals and assists at first team level. During the 2017 Allsvenskan season, 23-year-old striker Cibicki made 20 appearances for Malmö, 20 appearances that brought about five goals and three assists.

The season before that he netted nine time, with seven assists, in 26 games for the Swedish side. In total that’s 46 appearances (equivalent to a full Sky Bet Championship campaign) with 14 goals and 10 assists.

Not only that but his scoring prowess stretches back to younger age groups. Dropping back down the age groups at Malmö highlights just what promise the youngster has. At Under-21 level for Malmö, Cibicki played 34 times, scoring 20 times and was even more impressive for the Under-19s.

At Under-19 level, the young centre-forward made 27 appearances, scoring 21 times. In essence, the youngster has a goal-scoring record of 41 goals in 61 age-group appearances for Malmö.
