Bolton Wanderers are interested in taking winger Craig Noone on loan from fellow Championship side Cardiff City, InsideWalesSport understands.
The 29-year-old is out of favour at the Welsh side and is yet to make a single appearance this season with him last featuring for the club in the 2-0 defeat at home to Newcastle in April.
The former Brighton man made 30 appearances last season but has fallen out of favour with manager Neil Warnock and with City winning all five of their opening Championship games this season it looks unlikely that Noone will be getting a look in any time soon.
Cardiff already have the likes of Junior Hoilett and Nathaniel Mendez-Liang in impressive form as well as Danny Ward and Kadeem Harris ahead of the Englishman in the pecking order at the Cardiff City stadium.
Noone first came to prominence after being discovered by Plymouth Argyle as a 20-year-old with Southport and following his step up to the Football League made the further jump in a £300k move to Brighton following the Devon side’s financial trouble.
For any deal to happen however it is likely that Cardiff will have to cover a portion of the 5ft 5in man’s wages with Bolton under a £45,000-a-week maximum wage structure in order to keep themselves under their self imposed embargo.
Noone has already featured over 150 times for the Bluebirds since moving from Brighton in a £1.5m deal in 2012 and has scored 16 league goals, including his side’s third in an enthralling 4-3 victory over Derby County last season.
Any deal could also free up room in Warnock’s squad for Bristol Rovers man Billy Bodin who has been linked with numerous Championship clubs in recent days.
