Forestieri, Sheff Wed ace Forestieri backed to make shock move to Championship rivals

Sheff Wed ace Forestieri backed to make shock move to Championship rivals

Sky Bet has priced Fulham at 6/5 to sign Sheffield Wednesday forward Fernando Forestieri. It was recently claimed by The Sun that the Cottagers were set to produce a bid of £12million for the Argentinian, who has had his issues at Hillsborough this season.

The 27-year-old was recently internally suspended by manager Carlos Carvalhal following a training ground altercation with striker Sam Winnall. So far, Forestieri has played just three times for the Owls, including the recent Carabao Cup defeat to Bolton Wanderers. With Sone Aluko moving on to Reading, Slavisa Jokanovic is ideally chasing another forward before the transfer window closes on Thursday evening.

The training ground incident has supposedly put a strain on Forestieri’s relationship with his colleagues, both players and coaching staff. This means that the club would possibly entertain the prospect of a move away, assuming the price is right.

With the betting firm offering 6/5 that he remains, and considering he is just 4/5 he’ll stay at the club, it looks as though it is a case of one or the other. The next biggest-priced club are Premier League newboys Brighton & Hove Albion at 7/1, but that move would appear unlikely at this stage. There is then the likes of Newcastle United and Forestieri’s former club Watford at 25/1.

The tricky forward has certainly been a big hit since joining the club back in 2015. He has appeared over 70 times and was once the subject of a big bid from Newcastle United. Several clubs have been touted with a move for the player, but with him no longer being the first name on the teamsheet, perhaps now the time is right for him to go.
