Earlier today it was being reported that Sheffield United striker James Hanson was subject to a £200,000 bid by League One side Scunthorpe United.

The Blades signed Hanson from Bradford City in January, but he hasn’t made much of an impact at Bramall Lane with him just netting once for Chris Wilder’s side. It was being rumoured by The Star that Blackburn wanted to bring the striker to Ewood Park however, it looks like Scunthorpe are the only club to have made a bid for the 29-year-old.

Hanson started his career with Eccleshill United. He signed for Guiseley in 2007 where he scored 36 times in 71 games. His form attracted the attention of Bradford City who snapped him up in 2009. He scored 77 times for his boyhood club, before signing for Sheffield United January.

Scunthorpe currently sit sixth in League One as they look to win the promotion which eluded them last season. Hanson has scored 37 goals in League One. If he goes to Scunthorpe will he be able to help them win promotion?

Here’s how Scunthorpe fans reacted to the rumours:
