Hull City sign Burton Albion star for an undisclosed fee

Hull City have announced the signing of Jackson Irvine from Championship rivals Burton Albion. The 24-year-old has penned a three-year deal with The Tigers.

Irvine has become Leonid Slutsky’s second signing in two days with striker Nouha Dicko signing yesterday from Wolves.

The Melbourne born midfielder played a key role in Burton Albion staying up last season. His ten goals last year helped steer Burton away from the danger zone. Just like Nouha Dicko, Irvine will need no introduction to the Hull fans as he scored a screamer against The Tigers earlier on in the season.

Irvine began his career with Australian side Frankston Pines. He signed for Celtic in 2012 and spent three years with The Hoops, however, he only made one appearance for Celtic. The Australian international signed for Ross County in 2015, and after an impressive year with County, Burton signed him. He scored ten goals last season as Burton stayed up.

The skillful midfielder said this about his move to the KCOM Stadium: “I couldn’t be happier, and I’m just excited to be starting the next chapter of my career. It has all happened relatively quickly, but once I found out about the interest from Hull City, it was an easy decision even though leaving Burton was difficult in its own way.

“I just can’t wait to get started now.”

Hull currently sit in 8th position in the Championship. After a disappointing start to the campaign, The Tigers got their season back on track when they scored four without reply against Bolton. Hull travel to Derby to play The Rams next Friday.
