According to the Birmingham Mail, Ryan Shotton could be set to make a move to Middlesbrough with less than 48 hours until the transfers window closes.

Shotton has been one of the players who Monk’s Middlesbrough have tried to lure to the Riverside and the Teeside club had agreed on a transfer fee with Birmingham City on the condition that Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham City managed to recruit a defender – or two themselves.
Birmingham City had themselves been actively pursuing a number of defenders to replace Shotton with Harlee Dean of Brentford being suggested as one Birmingham City’s main defensive target.
It remains to be seen whether the Ryan Shotton saga will be solved with it seemingly being a transfer merry-go-round of defenders coming and going and a balancing act in terms of in and outs for all the Championship sides involved in the Shotton deal.
With the transfer deadline fast approaching though, it’s very likely that Birmingham City will step up their pursuit to recruit a new defender in order to pave Shotton his move away to Middlesbrough and if this isn’t the case, they will likely hold onto their man.
With news, breaking yesterday thought that Birmingham City had agreed on a £2m deal to sign Harlee Dean from Brentford, it pushes Ryan Shotton’s move to Middlesbrough ever closer and makes it look far more of a possibility than it did earlier in the window.
We’ll find out in the coming hours as to whether Middlesbrough can push a deal over the line to bring Shotton to the Riverside, or if they will run out of time in this transfer window.
