Wolves, Birmingham & Reading target hands in transfer request

Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill has this morning submitted a transfer request to the club, according to Sky Sports.

Hugill is widely expected to leave Deepdale before the transfer window slams shuts on Thursday, with a host of clubs reportedly interested in his services.

Last week, both Wolves and Reading had bids of around £8 million rejected by Preston, whilst a number of other clubs, including Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham City, are interested in the 25-year-old’s services.

The news that Hugill has submitted a transfer request at Preston will undoubtedly encourage the aforementioned sides, among others, to pursue the hitman further.

The attacker arrived at Deepdale from Port Vale in 2014 and was very impressive last season, scoring 13 goals as North End finished 11th in the Championship. This form has since attracted the interest of a host of fellow Championship sides, and Hugill’s head has now been turned.

Wolves, who have previously bid for Hugill, are in a desperate search to bolster their strike force before the transfer window closes, following the loan departure of forward Joe Mason to Burton Albion and the imminent transfer of fellow striker Nouha Dicko to Hull City.

Meanwhile, Reading may cool their interest in the Preston frontman, as they appear to have secured the services of attacker Sone Aluko from Fulham. Nevertheless, Hugill is an option that they may still decide to pursue.

Birmingham City are also keen to add to their squad, with Blues boss Redknapp a big admirer of Jordan Hugill’s goal scoring capabilities.

With Alex Neil’s men not in action until the window has closed, it seems rather unlikely that Preston supporters will see Hugill in a North End shirt again.
