4 Championship signings that should go through by deadline day

As the transfer window draws to a close, we look at the deals that are likely to go through before deadline day.

Pawel Cibicki

Leeds United have recently been linked with Malmo FF striker Pawel Cibicki. The deal is likely due to the strength of Leeds’ interest, as well as their ability to sign targets fast. Their efficient transfer work can be proved by how quickly they acted to sign 19-year-old Jay Roy Grot from NEC Nijmegen.

Most Leeds United journalists have reported the Whites’ interest in the forward, meaning their interest is genuine and if the deal happens, it will not be surprising.

Jordan Mutch

Crystal Palace midfielder Jordan Mutch has found game time hard to come by at Selhurst Park. As a result, the 25-year-old has attracted interest from Championship clubs, with the front-runners being Birmingham City and Leeds United. The latter have shown interest for longer, but Harry Redknapp is prepared to rival Leeds to his signature.

Due to Mutch gaining attention from more than one club, it makes a move to the Championship look more and more likely. If a deal does go through, it is likely to be a loan, rather than a permanent deal.

Jota

Brentford’s attacking star Jota has been subject of rumours for the duration of the transfer window. However, the Spaniard is probably the least likely to move out of all the players in this article.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder is highly-sought after by a number of Championship clubs, including Middlesbrough, Fulham and Hull City. Premier League clubs have shown an interest too, with some newspapers reporting that West Ham and Newcastle United could be battling to sign him before Thursday’s deadline.

John McGinn

Forest are looking to make it a hat-trick of signings from the Scottish League this season as they look to complete a deal to bring Hibernian midfielder John McGinn to the club. They have already signed Jason Cummings from Hibernian in this transfer window, and have also brought in Barrie McKay from Rangers.

Neil Warburton’s understanding of Scottish football will only be beneficial for Forest in their hunt for the 22-year-old. Furthermore, Nottingham Forest will not be afraid to spend money on the midfielder, making a deal all the more likely.
