Bradford City, Preston North End and Wigan Athletic in chase for Liverpool defender

Bradford City, Preston North End and Wigan Athletic are all looking to sign Liverpool’s Lloyd Jones according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon.

The 21-year-old defender came through the Liverpool academy and has been impressing while out on loan to clubs such as Accrington Stanley, Blackpool and Swindon Town over the last few years. But despite showing plenty of promise, Liverpool don’t seem to think he will be able to break through into their first team and are willing to sell him during this transfer window.

This has led to many teams across the EFL becoming interested in signing Jones as they look to get a top quality young defender for themselves. Right now these teams are said to be Bradford, Preston and Wigan as they all hope to improve their squad before the forthcoming transfer deadline day. It would seem that Preston would be leading the race considering that they are in the Sky Bet Championship, but Jones being familiar with Sky Bet League One may persuade him to head back to that division and be involved with a promotion battle with either Bradford or Wigan.

For Jones, it will be a tough decision as he looks to take the next step in his career. It will be a huge disappointment to him that Liverpool now want to sell him but this is also an opportunity for him to play more first team football and establish himself as a key player for whatever team he decides to sign for.
