Sheffield Wednesday make striker available for loan

Sheffield Wednesday head coach Carlos Carvalhal has made out of favour striker Lucas Joao available for loan according to the Sheffield Star.

The 23-year-old Lisbon born frontman has not featured for The Owls so far this season and looks unlikely to win his place in the starting XI any time soon.

It has been reported that Joao has now been made available for loan and the player could be set to spend his second temporary spell away from Hillsborough following a 13-game stint with relegated Sky Bet Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers last term.

Joao started his career in Madeira with Portuguese outfit CD Nacional where the player scored nine goals in 56 appearances in all competitions at first team level. The striker was also loaned to lower division club SC Mirandela to gain senior playing experience during his time in his homeland.

In summer 2015, Sheffield Wednesday signed Joao from CD Nacional for an undisclosed fee. The player signed a four-year deal with the South Yorkshire outfit however the youngster has scored just nine goals in 60 appearances for The Owls to date.

Joao went 11 games without a goal for Wednesday last season resulting in a loan move to Blackburn Rovers and the player has failed to impress his parent club in pre-season upon his return.
